Annual Plan for 2006–07
The Neurological Alliance will advance the following three priorities:
1- National Medicines Strategy
We will advocate for and support the development of a National Medicines Strategy by pursuing Neurological Alliance principles of:
- best treatments, best outcomes
- the need to ration health resources is counter balanced by the states duty to its citizens
- sustainable access to medicines
- partnership with government/industry/consumer groups
We will advocate on this issue via the Access to Medicines Coalition
- By proactive participation & membership
2- NZ Disability Strategy
We will promote a review of the strategy to include the principle that disability is also a "health issue"
- By promoting the integration of health & disability models
We will support the review of the strategy but seek that that it is not restricted to implementation of the strategy
- By promoting a review of the overall strategy
3- Disability Supports & Delivery Mechanisms
We will support the review of disability support delivery systems (including NASC agencies) through our involvement in the NZ Carers Alliance, by promoting the Neurological Alliance principles of:
- simple flexible systems
- transparent processes
- operational accountability
- consistency of services nationwide
- appropriate training of all NASC workers
